International Guest on Independence Day!
Our National Holiday was truley felt along the Allegheny. Our first International guest, Regula Scheidegger came to Emlenton. Regi, for short is an amazing young woman who traveled to us from New York where her journey on a German bicycle began. She left Zurich to have an advantur. Regi tells me this is common in Switzerland prior to middle age. I asked if has brought her clarity. She laughed and answered," my trip has just begun!"
Regi will travel to San Franciso then give her bike to a friend and travel onto Asia for 3 more months. This seems like quite the journey. She said the trip so far has been amazing. People are so kind to her. Even in areas where most folks would be concerned she felt safe. It appears that dogs are the most nuisance! Regi had a great attitude regarding the US. Her days on the bike are long, she pedals an average of 60-70 miles a day. She did some training prior to the trip but for the most part it was planning ahead.
Back in Zurich she left a career in banking. Regi says banks in Switzerland are like cheese and chocolate! Her time here was relaxing. We made sure she had quiet and good local food. She walked to the little cafe in town,"Little Italy" where she had a great meal. Afterwards she rested on the porch loving the viewing of the river. She enjoyed Emlenton's quaint feel.
During her time here we reflected on her journey and ours in being Innkeepers. We both admired one another's courage to take a great step in following your adventure.
