Recreation Evokes Change
It's been almost 5 years since our family up-rooted from the suburbs of Pittsburgh on a quest.
Our journey to settle along the Allegheny river in Emlenton, a rural town with historic glory which has struggled as many old industrialized towns. A metamorphosis of change is slowly taking place as this small town is being recognized as a receational hub of quality trails, waterways and unique environments.
Acoss America, people have embraced outdoor recreation. This fact motivated our family to create a business, "The Barnard House" which showcases the region in a premier experience of lodging, history and culture.
Over the past five years we have defined ourselves in business by listening to our guest and adapting to their needs with healthy local, fresh foods that are both nutritional and educational. Heirloom fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers are grown on the grounds of the home in organic gardens. Local foods such as bacon, breads, eggs and syrups and foods not in season enhance each breakfast with taste and beauty.
Guest enjoy our first hand knowledge of the outdoors. Hidden gems of history and nature's beauty are shared with maps, stories and photos to create travel plans and unique journeys. The visitors along the Allegheny river discover how our region is slowly changing. A corridor of river and trails that stretch through the valleys and connect river and trail towns. Eventually this corridor will form the , " Erie to Pittsburgh Trail System". Trails and recreation are providing towns like Emlenton economic reform and revitalization. GUEST- are making ripples in their visits! Statistic's are being collected that prove that CHANGE is good!
We as amassador's and Innkeeper's to the region invite YOU- Come visit, sleep, ride and Share our valley of CHANGE!
